Hiring a Breakdance Builder expert: agency or freelancer, and how to choose

Breakdance is one of the fastest ways to build a serious WordPress site, but the tool alone does not give you a good website. Someone still has to plan the structure, set up the design system, wire the dynamic data and make sure the site loads fast on a phone. This guide explains when it makes sense to hire a Breakdance Builder agency or freelancer, how to choose between the two, and what to check before you pay anyone.

What Breakdance Builder is

Breakdance is a visual site builder for WordPress. You design pages, headers, footers, templates and popups on a live canvas instead of writing theme code. It replaces the theme and a stack of add-on plugins with one tool.

It comes from the team behind Oxygen Builder, and it was made for people who build client sites for a living: the controls are deep enough for a developer, and the interface is simple enough that a client can edit their own content afterwards.

Why build your site with Breakdance

These are the reasons we use it for our own projects and for every template on BreakUI.

  • One tool instead of ten plugins. Forms, popups, header and footer builder, mega menus, sliders and WooCommerce templates are built in. Fewer plugins means fewer updates, fewer conflicts and fewer licences.
  • Lean pages. Breakdance only loads the CSS and JavaScript for the elements a page actually uses, which gives you a good starting point for Core Web Vitals.
  • A real design system. Global colours, typography, reusable classes and CSS variables keep a 40-page site consistent, and let you change the brand colour in one place.
  • Dynamic data. Templates, post loops and conditions work with custom post types and fields from ACF or Meta Box, so listings, directories and portfolios do not need custom PHP.
  • Full WooCommerce control. Shop, product, cart and checkout pages can be designed like any other page.
  • Easy handoff. Clients can change text and images without touching the layout.

Breakdance 3.0, which reached release candidate in October 2026, adds global CSS variables, a rebuilt selectors panel, an interactions system for click, hover and scroll behaviour, and a way to connect AI agents to the builder. You can read the details in the official announcement.

Where Breakdance is not the best fit

No builder is right for every project, and a good expert will tell you so.

  • The community is smaller than Elementor’s, so there are fewer third-party add-ons and ready-made templates. That gap is the reason BreakUI exists.
  • It replaces your theme. Moving an existing site from another builder means rebuilding the layouts, not converting them.
  • If your site depends on a plugin that only ships widgets for another builder, check for a Breakdance alternative before you commit.

When you need a Breakdance expert

You can build a simple brochure site yourself with a good template. Bring in a specialist when any of these apply:

  • You have a Figma design that has to be matched closely.
  • You are moving from Elementor, Divi, WPBakery or Oxygen and cannot afford to lose rankings or break URLs.
  • The site needs custom post types, filters, member areas or a WooCommerce store.
  • Your current site is slow and you need it to pass Core Web Vitals.
  • You run an agency and need a reliable white-label build partner.
  • Your time is worth more than the weeks it takes to learn a builder properly.

Agency or freelancer: which should you hire?

Comparison of when to hire a freelancer, a small specialist team or an agency for a Breakdance site
Freelancer, small team or agency: when each one fits.

Hire a freelancer when

  • The scope is clear: a landing page, a five-page site, a redesign or a fix.
  • You want to talk directly to the person doing the work.
  • Budget matters and you can manage the project yourself.

Hire an agency when

  • You need strategy, design, copy, development and SEO from one team.
  • The project is large enough to need several people working in parallel.
  • You need contracts, account management and long-term maintenance.

The risk with a freelancer is availability: one person can be busy, ill or gone. The risk with a large agency is cost, and that your project may be handed to a junior. A small specialist team sits between the two, which is how we work at BreakUI.

What to check before you hire

  1. Live Breakdance sites. Ask for links you can open, not screenshots. Check them on your phone.
  2. How they structure a build. Global styles, reusable classes and templates are the difference between a site you can maintain and one you have to rebuild.
  3. Speed. Run one of their sites through PageSpeed Insights on mobile.
  4. Responsive work. Tablet and phone layouts should be designed, not left to chance.
  5. Handoff. You should own the site, the licences and the logins, and get a short walkthrough of how to edit it.
  6. Communication. A clear scope, a timeline and a named contact matter more than a low quote.
  7. Support after launch. Ask what happens when something breaks in month two.

Why work with BreakUI

We are a small team of WordPress developers, and Breakdance is the tool we work in every day.

  • We build Breakdance templates as a product. Every template in our library is designed and built by us, and each one has a live demo you can open.
  • Experience you can check. Our founder, Moniruzzaman Monir, has worked as a WordPress developer for more than six years and has built over 350 websites for clients on Fiverr since 2019. You can read more about his work as a Breakdance Builder developer.
  • You talk to the people who build. No account managers between you and the developer. You can read more about the team.
  • We use what we sell. This website is built with Breakdance 3.0.
  • More than new builds. We also take on redesigns, speed work, bug fixes and migrations from other builders.

Frequently asked questions

Is Breakdance good for SEO?

Yes. It outputs clean markup, lets you set heading levels and alt text properly, and works with SEO plugins such as Rank Math and Yoast. Rankings still depend on your content and site speed, not on the builder alone.

Can I edit the site myself after it is built?

Yes. Text, images and blog posts are easy to change, and Breakdance has a simplified client mode so editors cannot break the layout by accident.

Can you move my Elementor or Divi site to Breakdance?

Yes, but it is a rebuild rather than a one-click conversion. We keep your content, URLs and SEO settings, and rebuild the layouts in Breakdance.

Should I start from a template or a custom design?

If your budget or deadline is tight, start from a template and customise it. If your brand needs something specific, go custom. We can do either, and several of our templates are free to try.

Ready to start?

If you want to build it yourself, browse our Breakdance templates and import one today. If you would rather have it built for you, tell us about your project and we will reply with a plan.
